Looks like the new format didn't hurt the show after all - although there were definitely mixed reactions from the media who attended. Hideo Kojima publically expressed his disappointment at the loss of the 'old' E3, and Square Enix packed up their booth in Santa Monica a day early. On the other hand, the new restrictions made queues for games minimal, allowing news to pour in as quickly as possible, and the show in general wasn't such a war on the senses.

Personally, I found it a little odd that some announcements for games had to be actively sought out (Nintendo were especially bad for this - Mario Party DS and Advance Wars DS 2 could very easily have gone totally unnoticed), but the usual sheer influx of new associated with E3 was there, so I can forgive and forget.

Anyway - highlights. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga put in a quick showing, revealing that it'll have about twenty more levels for fans to lap up upon release. Having played and adored the first two titles, I'll be more than happy to go through it again with the extras Travaller's Tales are cooking up.

Trauma Center: New Blood was an interesting announcement - especially when you consider that the game will now offer co-op surgery. Hilarity ensues as player two accidentally nicks an artery that player one has to desperately try and repair.

Another, even more interesting announcement, was that of Blocks for the Wii. Yes, you do 'just' play with blocks, but it looks like it can give players no end of imaginative and creative fun. It's the Wii's answer to LittleBigPlanet, that's for sure.

Finally, to end the show, I'd like to make sure that everybody views this fantastic footage. It's of Burnout Paradise, and the reason I find it so fantastic and promising is because it's from a pre-alpha version of the game. That means it's very early on indeed, and if it already looks that good and already has such a realistic physics engine in place, one can only imagine what the final product will be like.

Trailers like that, combined with so many other things at E3, have confirmed one thing in everybody's mind.

 Comments
</default:description>

It's all over.

It's good to be a gamer.

Finger-aching because, if you remember, these DK titles are controlled entirely through the L and R buttons, which you alternate between to swing in the appropriate direction.

Finger-aching because, if you remember, these DK titles are controlled entirely through the L and R buttons, which you alternate between to swing in the appropriate direction.

I predict this version of the game will be made slightly easier by the DS' two screens - you'll be able to scout out hazards sooner and plan ahead. These things you could not do in the GBA version, you know.

Jungle Climber will be released in Europe in October, and there's a trailer after the jump to tide you by until then.

Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed (titter) is destined for the Wii, PS2, and PSP. The title follows "Crypto as he travels the world in the Funked Out 1970s, unleashing massive destruction on foot, in his UFO and for the first time, in the Big Willy mech." Willy Unleashed (titter titter) will act as a prequel for the other new game in the series - Path of the Furon.

Path of the Furon will head to the 360 and PS3, and follows on directly from where Willy climaxed (ha! I'll stop now). There'll be no rest for Crypto, as "a mysterious new enemy attacks, launching a conspiracy that unravels Crypto’s groovy new way of life and threatens the very survival of his Furon race."

Thar be a trailer of Path of the Furon after the jump.

Two of almost everybody’s favourite childhood (and still!) things combined to create one joyous package o’ fun.

Admittedly, when The Complete Saga was first announced it seemed little more than a popularity cash-in. Two games on one disc – big deal. I can cope with them being separate. However, Traveller’s Tales are definitely trying to avoid this, having today revealed some of the new features they’re hoping to implement.

The character model customisation will now include even more options than before, thanks in part due to the first LSW characters being included, and also due to the fact that droid pieces will be made available. There will also be a few new characters added to the already encyclopaedic roster available, and of course, these characters’ heads and bodies will go towards the customisation.

Considering gameplay more directly, Traveller’s Tales revealed that they will be putting Bounty Hunter levels into the original LSW game, as well as expanding upon LSW2’s offerings. There will also be entirely new levels. The developers reckon that, in total, there will be twenty new levels, with many more existing ones expanded upon.

Considering the PS3 and 360 versions will have online co-op drop-in-drop-out and the Wii version will allow motion-sensing lightsabre control, this sounds like it’s shaping up very nicely indeed. Don’t believe me? Have a look at a trailer after the jump, then.

Here's what I thought was best from Day 2.

More Super Mario Galaxy footage, and details of the number of levels and stars. For me, it's the game of the show as the new material on offer has provoked an unrivalled level of anticipation within.

Another trailer which has caused a similar reaction, is the jaw-dropping Star Wars: The Force Unleashed trailer. If you're able to be as badass as what this trailer suggests in-game than I am so there.

There are a couple of games that have put on a good show at E3, but the general press and gaming community don't seem to be recognizing. I don't understand this. These games are MySims for the Wii and DS and echochrome for the PS3. The former looks to be the most anally retentive take on Animal Crossing possible - customize everything. And echochrome - blimey. I think I'll be scared to play that title, for the sheer ingenious thinking it will demand of you in every level.

If you've already checked all of that material out - then good on ya. If not, what are you waiting for? For the one-sentence headlines post, you say? Oh, alright then. That'll be along shortly.

 Comments
</default:description>

It's all starting to calm down now, as E3 slowly draws to a close.

First, the rather graphic-less echochrome. On top it looks to be a lazy and quite boring game with a chap walking around some polygons. Then you realise it's likely one of the most mind-bending puzzle games you'll ever face. Black holes send the chap plummeting downwards; white holes send him flying upwards. Camera angle changes are vital to hide any pitfalls in his way and your time limit is the slow tip-tap of his steps against your brain. Woah.

To lighten up, there's Pain - the ultimate ragdoll game. Send a man flying through the air and see what he can crash into, and how many bones in his body you can break. Over and over again.

Finally, there's the fan favourite WarHawk. If you don't know what this is by now - it's a game that utilises the motion-sensing abilities of the PS3's pad and lets you blow crap up via means of air fighter, jeep, or foot.

You can watch the newest trailer for each of these games after the jump.
